The UBS ETRACS Crude Oil Shares Covered Call ETN (USOI) is an exchange-traded note that launched on April 25, 2017. Its primary objective is to provide investors with monthly income and a return linked to the Credit Suisse Nasdaq WTI Crude Oil FLOWS™ 106 Index. The strategy involves holding a notional long position in the United States Oil Fund, LP (USO) while selling (writing) monthly call options that are roughly 6% out-of-the-money against that position. USOI is designed to harvest the high volatility of the crude oil market to generate premium income, though it caps the potential monthly upside of oil price rallies and carries the credit risk of the issuer, UBS AG.
